Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Tracking for Diabetes Care
With diabetes patients one of the main challenges is to keep a continuous track of their blood glucose level. In order to do so, invasive techniques are used where a blood sample is drawn for testing glucose level. However this causes pain and discomfort to the patients. Hence there is a need for non-invasive solutions which can help patients track their health vitals accurately and effectively.
(Innovation) BlueSemi is an Indian startup that launched its non-invasive product, EYVA. This non-invasive consumer health tech gadget is backed by its patented technology leveraging sensor fusion, accurate AI algorithms, and smart IoT. The health-tech device can measure six key body vitals – blood glucose, ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, SPo2, and temperature. The startup is backed by Google, Microsoft and Samsung Ventures, according to Crunchbase. Read more here.
Another interesting start-up is GlucoModicum. It is a Finland based university spinoff that has developed needle-free (non-invasive) CGM devices using its patented magnetohydrodynamic technology. Their patented technology uses electric and magnetic fields to diffuse the interstitial fluid from the dermis to skin. They claim that their product is pain free, causes no damage to the skin, and is 13x better than other needle-free devices that use techniques like reverse iontophoresis. Read more here. Alongside, they are under process for CE certification and are aiming for getting FDA approvals in the near future.
One of the challenges with these non-invasive solutions is the accuracy with which they are able to diagnose the body vitals. It will be interesting to see how accurate these solutions will be and which major company might take interest in their solutions.
